Station Photo Verification is Coming on February 19, 2026

Station Photo Verification (SPV) was introduced in the WeatherXM app over a year ago as an optional feature, allowing station owners to verify their physical installation.

Shortly after, SPV became mandatory for all new station deployments, ensuring that newly activated stations met installation standards from day one.

Starting February 19, 2026, SPV becomes mandatory for all stations across the network.

The proposal to introduce SPV has successfully passed governance voting on Snapshot.


Why SPV?

As the WeatherXM network grows, it is critical to:

SPV helps achieve this by requiring station owners to verify their installation with photographic proof.


What Is Station Photo Verification?

SPV requires station owners to submit photos of their station installation through the WeatherXM app.

The submitted photos will be reviewed to confirm:

Only verified stations will remain fully eligible for rewards.


What Changes?

Once SPV goes live:
SPV will be effective immediately upon release.

There will be no additional verification window.


Timeline

SPV will go live on February 19, 2026 and will be effective immediately.


What You Need to Do

For now, no action is required.

Once SPV is released:

  1. Open the WeatherXM app
  2. Follow the Station Photo Verification instructions
  3. Upload the requested photos
  4. Submit for review
